This part is applicable to motorcycles and mopeds.
2 Terms of types
2.1
motorcycle
road vehicles with two or three wheels driven by a power unit, with a maximum design speed of more than 50 km/h or that meets one of the following conditions:
——Its displacement is greater than 50 mL if an internal combustion engine is used;
——The maximum continuous rated power of its motor is greater than 4 kW if it is driven by electricity.
However, the following types are not included:
Motor wheelchairs dedicated for disabled people, of which the maximum design vehicle speed, complete vehicle kerb mass, and overall dimensions are in line with relevant national standards and regulations
2.1.1
electric motorcycle
motorcycle driven by electricity, including electric motorcycles with two wheels and electric motorcycles with three wheels
Note: for the electric motorcycle with three wheels, the complete vehicle kerb mass does not include the mass of the traction battery.
2.1.2
hybrid electric motorcycle
motorcycle which meets the definitions of motorcycle and electric motorcycle and that is able to obtain power from at least the following two kinds of on-board stored energy:
hybrid electric motorcycle with plug-in charging function, which can run for certain mileage driven only by electricity, including extended-range hybrid electric motorcycles
2.1.2.2
extended-range hybrid electric motorcycle
hybrid electric motorcycle which can supply electric energy to the power system via the auxiliary power generating device to extend the driving range in case that the in-vehicle rechargeable battery cannot meet the driving range requirement, and the in-vehicle auxiliary power generating device is directly connected to the drive system without the transmission shaft
