This standard specifies the principle, apparatus, preparation of test pieces, conditioning and temperature of test piece, procedure and expression of results for the test method of cut increase of sole material through flexing.
This standard is applicable to determine the flex crack resistance of sole materials.
2 Principle
The test gives a measure of the resistance of sole material to cracking resulting from flexing in wear. The material is repeatedly flexed through 90°+2° over a mandrel after a small cut has been made right through it with a chisel. The rate of growth of this cut is a measure of the tendency of the material to crack.
