This standard specifies the iodine titration method to determine the concentration of sulfur dioxide from exhausted gas of stationary source and the determination of emission rate of sulfur dioxide.
2 Normative References
The following normative document contains provisions which, through reference in this standard, constitute provisions of this standard. It is valid as this standard.
GB/T 16157-1996 The Determination of Particulates and Sampling Methods of Gaseous Pollutants Emitted from Exhaust Gas of Stationary Source
3 Determination Method Principle, Determination Range and Determination Error
Sulfur dioxide in exhausted gas is absorbed by mixed solution of ammonium sulfamate, titrate with iodine standard solution. Calculate the sulfur dioxide concentration by titration. The reaction formula are as follows:
SO2+H2OㄔH2SO3
H2SO3+H2O+I2ㄔH2SO4+2HI
Determination scope: 100~6000mg/m3; the intra-assay error of the method is not larger than ±6%.
4 Influencing Factors
4.1 When the boiler fuel is burnt in normal operating conditions, the content of reducing substances in exhausted gas such as H2S is very small, whose influence on the determination may be neglected.
