This standard specifies the letter and style of calligraphy for lettering and marking of railway cars.
It is applicable to railway cars belonging to the Ministry of Railways and also applicable to mining enterprises-owned railway cars sorted and used on railways and military-owned railway cars as well as local railway cars.
2 Content of Letters
The letters used in the marking of railway cars include Chinese characters, Chinese Pinyin, Arabic numerals, and measurement unit symbols.
3 Style of Calligraphy and Its Size
3.1 Chinese characters
The Chinese characters in the lettering and marking of the railway car shall be in the form of Song-style, and shall be simplified characters officially announced and executed by the State. The character width is approximately 2/3 of its height. The character size is named after the character height (mm). For example, a Chinese character with character height being 40mm is No. 40 character. The size of each size of character shall meet the requirements of Table 1.
