1 Scope
This standard specifies the equipment, reagents and methods used in tests of neutral salt spray(NSS), acetic acid salt spray(AASS)and copper accelerated acetate salt spray(CASS).
This standard also specifies the method of evaluating the corrosion of test chamber environment.
This standard does not provided for dimensions of the sample, nor test cycle and result interpretation for special products. For these informations, refer to relevant product standards.
This standard is applicable to assessing corrosion resistance of metallic materials and coatings. Test subjects can be permanently or temporally corrosion resistant.
The neutral salt spray test in this standard is applicable to metal, metal alloy, metallic coating, organic coating, anode oxide film and conversion coating1. Acetate salt spray test and copper accelerated acetic acid test are applicble to copper-nickel-chromium or nickel-chromium decrotive cladding.
