1.1 This standard specifies the requirements of temporary and transient overvoltages in AC power system which act on electrical equipment, insulation level of electrical equipment and overvoltage protection method.
1.2 In case issues of power quality relevant to overvoltage are involved, implementation shall be carried out according to those specified in the standard, in combination with power grid and equipment characteristic as well as service environment and by reference to relevant professional standards.
1.3 This standard is not applicable to overvoltage caused by static electricity, touching high voltage system and steady-state waveform distortion (harmonic wave).
